We make windows, not products

Every unit that leaves our workshop was drawn from a survey of a specific opening in a specific building. Nothing is picked from a size chart.

Timber windows earned a poor reputation in the 1970s and 80s, and it was deserved. Thin softwood sections, unsealed end grain, and gloss paint brushed on wet on a windy Tuesday. Those windows rotted, stuck and warped, and a generation of homeowners replaced them with plastic.

None of those failures were the fault of the material. They were specification failures, and every one of them is solvable. Kiln-dry the timber. Laminate the long sections. Seal the end grain before assembly. Finish it in a workshop with controlled humidity and let it cure properly. Do that and you get a window with a sixty-year service life that can be repaired rather than skipped.

How we work

A surveyor measures the actual opening and records the existing profiles, the cill condition, the exposure and the access. Those measurements go straight to the workshop, where the sections are machined, jointed and assembled. The units are finished and cured before they are loaded. Our own fitting teams install them, one opening at a time, and make good internally as part of the price.

What we will tell you honestly

• If your existing joinery can be repaired rather than replaced, we will say so — and repairs are typically a third of the cost.
• If a detail will not get past a conservation officer, we will not quote it just to win the job.
• If Accoya is worth the premium on your elevation, we will explain why. If it is not, we will tell you that too.
• If the lead time does not suit your programme, you will hear it at quotation stage, not six weeks in.

Timber and sourcing

We work in Idigbo, Sapele, European oak and Accoya. All of it is FSC-certified with documented chain of custody, which we will provide in writing where a planning submission requires it. Accoya is acetylated softwood rather than a hardwood in the botanical sense, but it behaves better than most hardwoods and carries a 50-year above-ground warranty, so we specify it wherever exposure justifies it.

Guarantees

Ten years on the joinery and the installation. Sealed units carry their own manufacturer's warranty. Accoya frames carry the 50-year above-ground timber warranty from the material supplier. It is all confirmed in writing with the quotation, before you commit to anything.
